Inspiration Photo
I recently found myself cleaning out some photos on my phone and came across this screenshot. When I saw it I thought “YES! I love this!” (It was obvious since I took a screenshot of it over a year ago.) The thing is, I was just as excited when I saw it now as I was a year ago. I love everything about it the colors, mix of styles, minimalist but not sparse on impact.
My Living Room
After I really looked at it I realized this is my living room. Not actually my living room, but it has all of the same elements: colors, styles, etc. as my living room. When I walk into my living room I think “YES! I love this!” Because it is a reflection of my style, personality and has all the details to make the space feel complete to meet our families needs.
Inspiration can be found ANYWHERE. The key to good design is translating your inspiration into your space(s). This is what offers the personal element that many spaces seem to be missing. The intended use of a space to meet your needs is important but having the space reflect your personality and style in addition to function is good design.
